More than just a race

The warm up!

Its not just about the race there lots to do

before and after the event.

Race History

The ‘diet Coke’ East Kilbride 1/2 Marathon was established in 2000 and a 10k Fun Run was introduced to encourage more people to participate. The 10k Fun Run encourages and motivates more people to be involved in one of Scotland’s biggest races.

The 1/2 Marathon race began with local athletes asking for support from Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) and South Lanarkshire Council (SLC). The race organisation is now a partnership between East Kilbride Athletics Club (www.ecak.co.uk), local athletes, South Lanarkshire Leisure, CCE and SLC. There are also a large number of volunteers who help on race day and if you know anyone who would like to help, please phone the race hotline on 01698 476118.

CCE has been based in East Kilbride since 1964 and employs over 400 people throughout Scotland. It is an active partner in our community and supports a wide range of activities – from local charities and youth football leagues to environmental programmes and employee fundraising events – which make a real difference to the communities we serve.
