St Andrew's Hospice

Our choosen charity for 2008

St Andrew's Hospice in Airdrie is the centre of excellence for Specialist Palliative Care services to Lanarkshire patients suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Since opening in 1986 with just 4 palliative care beds for a population of around 60,000 people, St Andrew's has become one of Scotland's largest Hospices with 32 beds (20 of which are used exclusively for end of life care), Day Hospice facilities for 60 people each week and a Care at Home Team.

This range of services enables staff at St Andrew's to provide vital care each week to some 120 patients from the Lanarkshire communities. The Hospice Fundraising Team has to raise £39,000 each week to maintain these services.
